FAQ's

Where are you located?
Aldersgate is located at 4301 Ambrose Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. Visit the Directions page for more information.
What type of worship services do you have?
We offer one service at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday that lasts 45-60 minutes. Worship style is generally blended, but can vary from week to week from more traditional to more contemporary. A typical worship service includes announcements, uplifting music and singing, readings, morning message, Children's Time, offering, and prayer.

Communion is usually served the first Sunday of every month. All are invited to celebrate communion, but you may choose whether or not you wish to participate.

The order of worship and any congregational responses are found in the bulletin or projected on the screen.
What about children?
Children are welcome to attend worship with you. We also offer a safe nursery care environment for infants to age two and Sunday School for children age three through 5th grade during worship. It’s all up to you and what’s best for your family.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever is comfortable for you. We believe God is more concerned about our hearts than our wardrobe. You'll find most folks in casual attire as well as some in more formal wear such as a sport coat or dress.
Am I allowed to take communion?
Yes! Our communion table is open to all. You do not have to be a member of any church or a United Methodist to participate.

What do United Methodists believe and where can I find out more?
The United Methodist Church is a global church with open hearts, open minds and open doors. John Wesley and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living and on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as "practical divinity" has continued to be a hallmark of The UMC today. Aldersgate UMC is part of the Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church.
